No Best Diet

No Best Diet

You are not going to like what I am about to say but here’s a little secret… there is no best diet.

I know, all the Pinterest articles you've saved that promise to “drop pounds quick” by eating a certain way your mother’s friend’s sister swore by probably won’t work for you as well.

Wait, what… but why not?!

Think of all the different factors that go into someone's diet making that particular way of eating work for them. There is the time commitment, budget, nutrition knowledge, dietary preferences, body types, health factors (I could go on) but overall you get the picture as to why it's hard to say that there is one superior diet when in reality, there is no singular, best, without a doubt diet out there.

You more than likely know someone who has tried keto, paleo, high-carb, gluten free, dairy free, carnivore, vegetarian, vegan, Mediterranean, intermittent fasting, or one of the bazillion other types of diets, and it has worked for them.

So what do all these diets have in common? More than you may think.

They all raise attention to your nutrition. When you start a diet, you think about your current eating habits and recognize how “off” they are from whichever plan you are starting. They all make you think about what is going into the hole between your nose and chin. Awareness is one of the first steps in improving your health.

They all promote exercise. When you raise the awareness of what you are eating, you also inevitably start thinking about movement and exercise.

They all help control food intake. Bouncing off awareness (again), all these diets make you analyze what you’re eating, the quantity, and the quality. By choosing higher quality nutrient-dense foods you are more than likely going to start eating less.

So which diet is most superior?

The one that is best for you!
